Duties
We are looking to reinforce our engineering teams with a Space Systems Engineer who will work on satellite projects amongst scientific, space situational awareness and earth observation missions.
The candidate shall have a demonstrated experience (>=5 years of work experience) of:
- Spacecraft system engineering during implementation phases and ideally across different platforms and payloads (earth observation, telecom, thermal infra-red, optical communications, etc)
- Concrete experience and awareness across much of the system study, technology & design development, qualification and acceptance, in-orbit lifecycle
- Experience and awareness of institutional customer program types and lifecycle models
- Plan, coordinate and lead spacecraft engineering activities in a project context, including identifying the needed analyses, development and test activities for the agreed risk control
- Technical requirements elicitation, scrutiny, allocation including trade-offs across design for compliance, design for manufacture, design for cost approaches
- Coordination across engineering and test departments, including test specifications and report approvals, analyses campaign scope and results approvals, verification control board coordination
- Technical spacecraft resource and performance budget management (including underlying analyses)
- Spacecraft design and engagement in space/ground system trade-offs
- Space ground, platform payload and internal platform interface control and decision-making
- Review and approve discipline-oriented or supplier/subcontractor delivered inputs
- Support preparation and execution of internal and customer technical and project reviews
- Coordinate and contribute to both rough-order-of-magnitude and committing cost proposals for engineering scope
Must have
- 5 years of experience in the fields mentioned above
- Working experience on several satellite or payload design fields as Mechanical, Thermal , AOCS, Avionics,…
- Excellent detailed technical communication skills in both directions to/from satellite and system engineering team across all disciplines
- Excellent technical and programmatic communication skills in both directions to/from customer representatives, and internal project management, procurement, project financial control, assembly integration & test departments
- Able to simplify and explain as appropriate to the audience with good and synthetic overviews
- capacity to synthesis informations & take decisions
- Ability to autonomously conduct satellite design trade-off and draft preliminary concepts
- Proficient in collaborative working methods both physically and with remote teams working with Windows/MS environments, and familiar with industry standard toolings such as commercial PLM/PDM, and Matlab/Python (or any similar language)
- Familiarity with UML, SysML or other system modelling languages may be an advantage
- Interest in Hardware and AIT activities is an asset
- Fluent in English, any other language is an asset
