Structural Mechanics – Junior Engineer



Full Time

Aerospacelab is looking for an engineer who will model satellite structures, mechanisms, and payloads.

While being part of a team of experienced mechanical engineers, you will closely work with the multidisciplinary teams developing our satellite payloads, composed of electromechanical, materials, mechanical, optics, and RF engineers.

Your first mission, should you choose to accept it, will be to model how manufacturing uncertainty impact the shape of a deployable space structure for which shape accuracy is critical.


  • Perform analyses to guide payload and deployable space structures development
  • Compare your predictions with test results
  • Contribute to our internal tools and our codebase that allows our company to iterate more quickly on new concepts
  • Design experiments with project teams to de-risk technical choices

Must have

  • Experience with numerical and mechanical analysis
  • Experience solving problems with Python or another scripting language
  • Good problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
  • Will to improve in multiple mechanical domains
  • Working level English

Nice to have

  • Experience with Nastran
  • Experience with space requirements
  • Experience with complex mechanical structures, such as deployables or tensegrity structures
  • Experience with modelling of composite materials
